1. Who we are

Mise en Place ("we", "us") operates the platform at miseenplace.network. We are the data controller for account and billing data, and a data processor for guest order data on behalf of venue operators. Contact: hello@miseenplace.network

2. What data we collect

Account data: name, email address, business name, and password (hashed) when you register a venue.

Billing data: payment method details are handled directly by Stripe and never stored on our servers.

Guest session data: orders placed via QR code, items ordered, timestamps. This data is associated with a temporary session, not a named individual, unless the guest opts in to a loyalty programme.

Usage data: page views, feature interactions, and error logs collected to improve the platform.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and operate the Service;
• To process payments and manage subscriptions;
• To send transactional emails (account verification, billing receipts);
• To diagnose technical issues and improve platform reliability;
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process account and billing data on the basis of contract performance. Usage analytics are processed on the basis of legitimate interests (improving the Service). Where required, we rely on consent for optional communications.

5. Data sharing

We share data only with:

• Stripe — payment processing;
• DeepL — menu translation (menu text only, no personal data);
• Hosting providers — Render (backend) and Vercel (frontend), both with EU data processing agreements.

6. Data retention

Account data is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 30 days after termination, after which it is deleted on request or automatically. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to object to or restrict processing; and to data portability. To exercise these rights, email hello@miseenplace.network. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

8. Cookies

We use a session cookie (JWT stored in localStorage) for authentication. No third-party tracking or advertising cookies are used.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
